It's About Time Father's Day 2018

The Groves at Piney Orchard Blog, Odenton, MD Apartments Need some ideas for how to celebrate Father's Day this year? Read our post to get a few ideas for how to celebrate your dad.

There are few things better than taking some time to honor and thank the people in our lives who have taught us, shaped us, and been there for us throughout our lives. In June, we can take some time to celebrate men who are our personal superheroes, our fathers (or other father figures in our life) on Father’s Day (June 17th). Today, The Groves at Piney Orchard Blog is sharing some ideas about how to celebrate the holiday here in Odenton, MD — or wherever your father may be!

If possible, visit your father over the weekend to let him know you’re thinking about him and appreciate all he’s done for you. Bringing along a gift is always a nice touch. Here are some suggestions:

Gift of Time

Spending time together may be the best gift you could give to your Dad. Get tickets to a sporting event, a theatre production, or a concert you know your Dad would enjoy — throw in dinner, and you’ve got the recipe for a meaningful gift. If you are not able to spend time together physically, sent a letter with your gift or in a card expressing appreciation for all your father had done for you and what he means to you. Be specific, recount memories and what they taught you. If writing isn’t your thing, make a phone call and spend some time connecting with your father. He’s sure to be pleased.

A Practical Gift

Maybe your dad is not the type who wants a big Father’s Day celebration. For some dads, practicality goes a long way. Keep it simple and get him something he’s been in need of for a while – whether it’s a new briefcase for work, a coffee maker for that morning boost, or an oil change – on you!

Pay it Forward

Our dads have taught us a lot of things over the years. Show your dad that he has taught you well by making a donation to a charity in his name. Present him with the certificate and a handwritten note to make this gift even more meaningful.

It may not be possible to spend time with your Dad, but send a card, letter, or gift to connect with him. We hope everyone in our apartment community has a wonderful Father’s Day. What is your favorite way to spend the day? Let us know in the comments. Thanks for reading today’s post.
